In choosing the right shelves for your pantry there are several important factors to consider. First, the amount of space available will often determine what kind of shelving units are appropriate. Free standing pantry shelves will occupy more space than wall-mounted pantry shelving systems, and will also be surprisingly weak in their ability to hold large amounts of weight. Second, as previously mentioned, the amount of weight that will be required to be held will justify which type of pantry shelves to purchase. Wall-mounted systems are often directly attached to wall studs by screws, and are therefore often stronger and less likely to bend. Price, is the final, and most important piece of the puzzle. Wall-mounted pantry shelving systems are cheaper than plastic shelving systems, which are,in turn, cheaper than wooden systems.
One of the often overlooked aspects of kitchen design; until you dont have one, then youll wish you did, is the pantry. A properly situated kitchen pantry adds valuable storage space and will increase the functionality of any kitchen. Even if you have a relatively small space to work with, including a pantry in your kitchen will improve the overall utility of the space. Traditionally, a kitchen pantry provided space for all of the food storage required for preparing the family meals. A pantry can be as small as 2 feet by 2 feet square. With floor to ceiling pantry shelves, you can store a lot of items, and remove some of the clutter from other areas of your kitchen. If you have the space for a walk-in pantry then you can store almost anything you want, and have it within easy reach to make life easier for you. After all, when you build a new kitchen, you want the finished product to suite your lifestyle and make your life more enjoyable.
I have found that it is best to try to reorganize your pantry when you are alone, or have a block of time available for you to concentrate and complete the project quickly! Remember to store cleaning products and chemicals away from your food items! Keep items that you use the most often in front and readily visible! Stack cans, jars and other items so that the labels can be easily read. Always be on the lookout for new organization aids such as: baskets, wire baskets, adjustable racks, stacking containers, and more that will improve your pantry organization. Make a "guest" or "refreshment" shelf to keep crackers, dips, chips, drink mixes and other items handy so you are ready to have an impromptu party or your childrens friends. Keep paper/pencil and/or a small whiteboard in your pantry. You could also paint a chalkboard on the back of your pantry door. You will be surprised how this will encourage family members to add what they would like to the inventory or what they have noticed is out-of-stock.
A kitchen isnt a kitchen without a kitchen pantry cabinet. The storage area in most cupboards isnt enough to store canned goods, cereals and dry goods like rice, beans and noodles. Furthermore, most kitchens only have the cabinet space for eating utensils and cooking tools but not for food. However, the pantry space in most kitchens is insufficient. One of the better kitchen pantry cabinets out there today is The Chefs Pantry System by Omega National. Omega National is a brand sold by National Products and their quality is outstanding. The Chefs Pantry System will help turn your existing pantry or food cupboard into a true storage system.
