Pantry Inventory List and Restocking Now that you have cleaned our your "Well-Stocked Pantry," have discarded outdated items, added shelving (if needed), you will want to take inventory. By doing this it will help you to determine what is missing and what needs to be regularly re-supplied. For your convenience, I have created a starter list of common items you may want to keep in your pantry and add to your own pantry inventory list: Canned Items - Soup, Broths, Vegetables, Fruit, Beans, Tomatoes, etc.; * Jar Foods - Tomato Paste and Sauce, Olives, Pickles, Peanut Butter, Jams and Jellies * Baking Items - Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Flour, Sugar, Extracts and more! * Spices - Salt, Pepper, Basil, Italian Season, Tarragon, Paprika, Crushed Red Pepper and more! * Starches - Pasta, Potatoes, Rice * Condiments - Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise * Sweeteners - Syrup, Honey, Artificial Sweetener * Dry Goods - Cereals, Oatmeal, Pancake Mix, Raisins & Dried Fruit, Nuts & Seeds * Oils - Olive Oil, Canola Oil, Peanut Oil, Vegetable Oil, etc.
The basis of your pantry organization system will be your shelving, since it is around the walls that you have the most space available. Dont forget that you need to utilize the height of your pantry to its maximum and ensure you have tall pantry shelving that reaches close to the ceiling. It would be a shame to waste that vertical space, and you can always keep things up there that you do not need regularly. You can buy pantry shelving in various dimensions, and you will probably be able to fit together a system without needing to order it specially made. However, a custom-made pantry shelving system would be the best option, since you could have it made exactly to fit the available space. This would be the more expensive option though. You may need to devote SOME floor space to a closing pantry cabinet, or set of drawers, for those numerous small items that you need to have immediately accessible. But it is always a good idea to put drawer dividers in to make sure your things arent rattling around and getting messy.
Keeping The Pantry Well Organized Now that you have your pantry cleaned and organized, you will want to follow these few easy tips to keep it that way: 1. Dont buy things that wont get used; this will save money! 2. Do buy only according your tastes, budget and needs. 3. Look for coupons and sale items to keep in your pantry 4. Pantries can easily become a catch all for all unsightly clutter within a household, but with a few pantry organizers, a couple of organizational methods and a little elbow grease, your pantry look fit for a magazine shoot. First, de-clutter your pantry. Go through and take out all items that do not belong in the pantry, throw away all expired items and consider getting rid of items that you rarely or never use. After your pantry has been de-cluttered, take everything off of the shelves and out of the pantry, essentially wiping your pantry-slate clean. With your remaining items, divide them into sensible categories such as spices, kitchen utensils, canned goods, small appliances, etc. Make sure the categories work for you and your family - each pantry is different.
